chaos theory
Penelope spun around in front of the mirror, the black fringe layers of her flapper-style dress dancing as she went. She’d decorated her hair by pulling one side back and placing a bright red poinsettia among the curls. It was a little tacky, but it was fun and flirty at the same time, which was exactly what she was going for. Donning a pair of short, crimson heels to match her hair piece, she smiled at herself, striking a little pose before laughing, grabbing her gift, and skipping off to the party which she was sure was already well underway. Penny had a tendency to be late.

It didn’t take her long to realize that she’d been missing more than just another Hogwarts Christmas party and Secret Santa gift exchange, though. By the time her foot fell on the second to last staircase before the Great Hall, she saw them all running – countless first-, second-, and third-year students were darting up the stairs, down the halls, and anywhere that was away. Penelope stood there for a moment, staring at them all with blatant confusion as they scurried passed her. What happened? It was only a few seconds later that she heard the screaming of spells and muffled argumentative words coming from the hall.

Leaping into action as if protecting herself and fellow students from attacks inside Hogwarts’ sacred halls was something she did every day, Penny took the rest of the stairs two at a time, nearly tripping once as she plucked her wand from its resting spot tucked into the wand-holding garter she always wore under her dresses. When she straightened back up, her eyes immediately found the familiar brown ones of one of her closest friends, looking equally as unsettled as the rest of the crowd. Penny dropped the present she’d been bringing down to the giant tree, tossing it aside to free her hands for whatever she was about to walk into.

“Arch!” She called out, sliding up next to him as she tried to slow herself down too quickly. She grabbed his arms with both her hands. “Archie, what’s going on? Why is everyone running?” No sooner had the words left her lips than an explosion sounded off from the Great Hall, startling her and making her want to run toward it at the same time. “We have to go! We have to help them!” With the hand that wasn’t holding her wand, Penny grabbed onto the front of his shirt and proceeded to yank him toward the opening to the vast room, fighting through the hordes of escaping people as she went.

Daddy cool.
The night was lovely. The hall decorated at it’s best thanks to the help of all the staff members and a few head girl’s and boy’s. Archibald enjoyed this place. He enjoyed every second of it so far. It was truly a blessing with him being here and he thanked both of his parent’s and Alaric. Though, most of all, he thanks the headmaster himself for giving him the chance to care for the castle and keep and eye on the children. If it weren’t for him he would have been tucked away in the muggle world living out his bland normal life. Though he wouldn’t have minded that either being as he was familiar with that lifestyle. Though Hogwarts, to him, was home now. This was where he had belonged.

The music was flowing beautifully throughout the hall, the students smiling and laughing as they had enjoyed themselves to the fullest. It was lovely- all the magic put into it, Archie couldn’t take his eyes off of his surroundings. ”Ladies.” he smiled, nodding to a few passing and giggling faces. Though the giggling had soon faded with the muffled screams of a a blonde headed Gryffindor girl. Her body wrapped up in the man’s arms as he had eased into ripping what flesh he could from her neck. Blood oozing from the poor girls body as Archie could feel his knees weaken. What in the world..

The screams, the tears, the students- it wasn’t something he had seen everyday. This wasn’t something anyone would have seen occasionally. And here he was without a wand because, well what do you know, he was magicless. It was times like these where he wished he had something, at least, to protect himself. Anything. Hands wrapped around Archie. ”Penelope.” he breathed, eyes expressing their panic as she had begun to speak. ”That man! We have to get as many of these kids as possible out of here!” Though before he could even give her the call, she had taken it upon herself to grab hold of the front of his shirt and direct him out to gather up the students.

Stopping just as soon as they had made their way out of there, Archie inhaled deeply. He had to go back… for that boy… ”Penelope, I need you to stay here.” he stalled her, grabbing hold of her shoulders as he looked from her to his opening. ”Just STAY here!” With that being said, Archibald scurried through the hordes of children as he finally stopped at his destination. He needed to be stealthy, he needed to get him out or they were both going to die. Dropping to the floor, Archie snaked his was in to grab hold of the boy’s shirt. With all of his might, Archie pulled Wesley to him. He was unconscious, unable to move. ”C’mon! You’ll be safe soon.” He spoke low enough before finally tossing the boy over his shoulders and making a straight run for the door.

The boys weight upon his shoulders had somewhat slowed him down but had gotten him to the door before anything else had happened. Huffing and puffing he stopped just before Penelope, a slight nod was given before bellowing out to the students. ”STUDENTS FOLLOW US!” The only place he could think of running was the Hospital wing. But he couldn’t- what if that man followed them? ”This way!” Motioning the children to follow him into the dungeon’s, Archibald kicked open an abandoned room before moving inside. The many faces following close behind him.

With ease, Archie laid Wesley out onto the floor placing his coat behind his head for support. He had to stop this bleeding! But without magic he was useless. And he was no healer! Quickly Archie removed his white buttoned up shirt and wrapped it around the boy’s neck- an attempt to apply pressure. ”Please, God tell me someone here can use their magic!” he exhaled. ”Anyone!”

Lily was hesitant about attending the Christmas party. Nothing good ever seemed to come from them. But it was a new year. Things were different now. The evil had passed and they were all safe. That was the only thing that drove Lily to tame her curls and put on the dress that she had bought at Diagon Alley before the year had commenced. The black and yellow dress flowed to the floor and she gazed at herself in the mirror before she made her way down to the hall, hoping that she caught the glance of a particular professor.

What she didn't expect to find as she walked slowly down the stairs and into the entrance hall was the terror that had sprawled out. Lily stood there in the center of the hall, a panicked look on her face as past events assaulted her mind. The breath hitched in her throat and Lily thought she was going to pass out because she couldn't get her act together. This wasn't okay though. Watching the students scurry about, Lily pushed her pain to the side and sprung into action. She was a prefect. It was her duty to protect the other students who were in distress.

Her bright eyes hurried across the crowd and stopped as she watched Archibald leave Penelope Wood and hurry into the Great Hall. That man had balls, she had to admit. Lily never would have been able to bring herself to entering after everything that had passed. Moving on, she thought she spotted that familiar head of dark hair towering over the crowd but two students bumped into her, pulling her attention away. Stop, wait! Lily said, grabbing hold of their shoulders and ushering them towards the dungeons. Go! Get to a classroom. Everything is going to be alright. She watched as the ran down the stairs and turned back to the crowd. She tried to find who she thought was Daniel in the crowd again but failed, her heart pounding in her chest with worry but running forward to follow Archie when she noticed him carrying a limp body.

Lily stood at the entrance of the classroom, motioning more students into the safety while throwing glances behind her at the boy who lay unconscious on the floor. Someone get this door locked as soon as you can. If you see anyone unfamiliar coming, lock it right away. Picking up her dress around the middle, she hurried over to Archie and the boy, dropping to her knees beside them. What happened in there? How did this happen? Lily's panicked eyes looked over at the man at her side as she withdrew her wand that she tucked away within the folds of her dress. When I say so, move your hands.

Lily knew a comulation of spells but had not had the chance to practice her medical skills too often. Biting down on her lip, she pointed her wand to the place where hands tried to slow the bleeding from the redheaded boy. Alright.....go...Vulnera Sanentur. Her voice was soft as she was unsure of herself. Her wand moved deftly as she tried to keep her mind focused and centered.

nothing can shake me
except the fear of losing you
There was only one reason why Daniel had agreed to chaperone the later half of the Christmas party, a chance to see that red head that haunted his dreams. Although he knew he couldn't associate with her he could admire her from afar. Right? Surely no one would be suspicious of a Professor watching over the studens ensuring none of them were getting too drunk. After all, Daniel had been in that spot 9 year ago himself - he knew how those things worked. As the head of Gryffindor House it was expected for him to stop any shenanigans, but if he didn't see the student spike the punch then there wasn't anyone to punish.

Daniel didn't bother with appearances, he was never that type of guy to spend time getting ready, nor was he going to start doing that now. Still in his suit from earlier he ruffled up his black hair and headed out of his office. He was already fashionably late for his shift but he figured the other professors could spare a few extra minutes of their time. Making his way toward the Great Hall he paused just long enough to hear an explosion.

As fast as he feet could take him he went running toward the Great Hall doors, jumping over the banister to save some time as he landed in the middle of a panicked students running away from the hall. There wasn't any time to waste but the panic that build up inside of him caused him to hesitate just enough as he looked around the area. "LILY POTTER!" he yelled toward the crowd not thinking twice about it. Grabbing a frantic student by the arm he said, "Is Lily Potter in there?" the kid only shrugged his shoulders and off he went. It was then that he heard the familiar voice off in the distance. Turning around he saw her red hair fling widely in the crowd ushering students into one of the empty classrooms.

Running toward her relief flushed over him as he realized that she was okay and as safe as she could be. "Everyone follow me," he said as he directed even more students into the safety of the classroom. By the time he got there he saw Lily and Archie leaning over a body. "Lily," he said softly as he came up behind her, then clearing his throat on realizing he was reaching out to her he withdrew his hand and reached into his pocket for his want. "Is he breathing?" he asked.

While he entrusted Wesley, the boy who was laying on the ground bleeding, to Lily he stood close by, ushering as many students into the room as he could. "EVERYONE STAY CALM," he yelled, "ALL GRYFFINDORS IN THE CLASSROOM NOW!" he directed. He may not have been able to get the other students to listen, definetly the Slytherins, but he could at least get his house to safety and hope that the others followed.

With that being done he waved his want in front of the door way, sealing them in. "Protego Maxima. Fianto Duri. Repello Inimicim. Protego Totalum. Salvio Hexia.". With the protection spells in place he hurried back to Lily, one hand on her shoulder as he leaned over the boy himself. "You're doing great Lily," he said in his professor tone of voice to thrwat anyone thinking anything else. As the others went about their buisness for the minute he whispered, "I thought I was going to lose you," and with that he went back to the door seeing if he could save anyone else.

sorrow found me when i was young
Molly always arrived at a party later than most, even ones as simple as Hogwarts parties. The redhead took her sweet time to do her hair and makeup. She had to look her best, for herself and for the many boys she could impress. She loved making them drool, and having all of the attention on herself. Especially when she looked as good as she would that night. Ever since the break up with Lorcan, Molly has become more promiscuous, using her body and intoxication to drown her sorrows. It wasn't her, but she played her part well. Anything to hide the pain she felt every single time her eyes landed on the Scamander boy or the moments she spent hating him when she was the only one to blame. She should have known better. She should have known that there was nothing between them other than friendship. Molly forced the relationship because she believed they would be great; perfect even. She should have let him go a long time ago, but that just wasn't her fate.

The Weasley girl could hear the screams echoing through the halls before she even hit the staircase, a panic rising in her as her mind rushed with names of people she knew were attending that party. People she loved and cared for. Molly had family down there and without hesitation her body lunged forward into a run, heels hitting hard on each step she ran down. This couldn't be happening. But also, what was happening? Was this another elite attack? A werewolf change? What had been planned this time to torture the students trapped inside the walls of the dark castle. Please let everyone be okay.

She was scared. There was nothing but the worst thoughts playing inside her mind; flashes of those she loved hurt and dying. Molly was not an optimist, so she was not expecting the best scenario. Still she took the steps to whatever scene would lay before her. As she neared the end, frightened eyes landed on the trail of blood coming from the Great Hall, and the many bodies pushing and fighting through the crowd. Molly pushed forward, ready to run into danger to find her family, but a flash of red hair alerted her to a different area, a professor's voice yelling for his house to follow him.

Lily. Professor Corner. Who else was in that classroom? Who else was still in the Great Hall. Molly was conflicted and hesitated in the middle of the pushing students. She was certain Lily would be safe as she was in the classroom and the Professor was there. But everyone else? Teetering on the edge of running into the Hall, Molly finally fought her intentions and followed Professor Corner's directions. Archibald. Penelope. And... "Wesley?" Her voice cracked as her heart skipped a beat in fear. Lily was hovering over him, attempting to heal his wounds. Rushing forward, Molly placed herself beside her cousin, instinct causing her to slip her hand into the redhead boy's. She wasn't particularly close with him. In fact, she had rejected him many times in the past, but seeing him so.. broken pulled out a fear for his life. No matter how hardened Molly had become, she wouldn't wish this on anyone. "What the hell happened?" She breathed, eyes glancing toward Lily just in time to see the Professor's hand on her shoulder. Involuntarily, an eyebrow rose at the exchange, but she held back any words she had for her cousin and the Professor. Clearing her throat, she changed her features back to concern. "Lily? Are you alright?"

Charging in to save Agnes, while valiant, turned out to cause more trouble than what he had intended. But it had drawn attention away from Aggey. That was all that he had wanted. Wesley had been careless. How he always was though so what else was to be expected. Things changed for the worse though when he saw the vampire charging at him. Everything flashing before his eyes as pain errupted at his throat. His eyes widening and his hands flying up to cover himself as blood poured out as he was flung across the Great Hall, his head smacking into the floor below him as he hit down. His whole world going black.

The noises around him slowly brought him back to the room. Though it wasn't the same room that he had been in. The hushed voices over him had him confused. There was still a sense of chaos in the air but the urgency was gone. His hand tightened against the hand that was within his grasp. Something told him that it was Agnes. That she was okay and here with him. When he opened his eyes, it was shown that all was not okay. Agnes was nowhere in the room that he could see.

Hurriedly. Wesley pushed himself up into a sitting position, the world turning over on its side. Where's Agnes? His eyes continued to search the room, trying to find the familiar face. She needed to be here. If she was still with that horrid man and something happened to her, Wesley didn't know what he would do. Wesley loved her in a way he didn't love anyone else. They had shared so much together and while they weren't together as a couple, Wesley would always think of her as someone so close to him. I need to find her. NOW! Wesley shouted, climbing to his feet, swaying like a drunk.

everyone (and @LORCAN SCAMANDER)

“Come on, hurry up, this is not a drill,” Diana directed the flow of traffic as quickly and efficiently as she could in the hallway, but her insides were all a mess of panic, anxiety, and fear. Until this very moment, she thought the worst thing that could happen to her was the fact that her entire family had been slaughtered last March. Now, she was beginning to wonder if the whole world was turning to Hell. Just when she’d finally been able to find happiness with her boyfriend. After they’d finally been able to find themselves in a good place again with so many rocky months of secrets and uncertainty behind them.

As he crossed her mind, Di lifted her blue-eyed gaze to him from across the hall. He was at the other end, doing a head count or shoving people down the corridor and toward the dungeon or something of that matter. She wasn’t really sure what he was doing anymore, but then again, she wasn’t really sure what she was doing anymore either. All she knew was that she wanted to stop. She wanted to stop it all. She wanted to give up everything and to run down that long stretch of stone and throw her arms around her dark-haired prince. The solace she knew his tempting arms could offer her was nearly irresistible. Diana Holland wanted to kiss her sexy boyfriend as the world crumbled to pieces all around them.

“It’s alright,” she said, instead, yanking her eyes away from Lorcan Scamander. “Everything is going to be alright. You’ll be safe in her. Just pile in. We’ve got you. We can protect you. The professors are doing everything they can right now. It’s going to be alright.” As soothing as she hoped her words would be, Diana felt as if all the first- and second-year students could see right through her empty promises and into her petrified soul. In reality, she didn’t know if everything was going to be alright or not. She couldn’t know. In fact, she had a distinct feeling things weren’t going to be “just fine” at all. This whole situation stunk of last year’s tragedies, and she had to bury her own panic deep inside herself to keep from screaming and running in circles like the rest of their crew. “Is that the last of them?” She called to Lorcan as she watched him scurry down the hall at the tail-end of the group.

It seemed no one else was trying to enter the dungeons. Which was a good sign, right? They weren’t under attack, not truly. It was one isolated incident. But that explosion…Diana and Lorcan had been off doing…other activities than what was planned for the castle, which, admittedly, wasn’t the best example two prefects could set, but they hadn’t cared in their moment of passion. Now, however, Diana was desperately wishing they could have been in the Great Hall and seen what all the commotion was about. All she had to go on was the scared whispers of secondhand accounts and the curiosity she held about what sound had pulled Di and Lorcan from each other’s arms in the first place. She hadn’t the faintest idea of who was attacking or why or how many people had been caught in the crossfire. All she knew was the here and now, and that she and Lorcan needed to stay on top of this.

Putting her hand in his as they crossed the threshold to the dungeon, Diana yanked the heavy door shut behind her before flicking her wand at its ornate surface and casting every spell about protection and locking things she knew. Protego,” she repeated, over and over again, wondering if it would be enough all the while. She’d seen the only professor in the room cast enough defensive charms that the only ones who wouldn’t be able to make it in the room would be those meaning them harm, but she still felt better doing a little something now, even if it meant a silly repetition of what was already done. Now that all the remaining students who’d been on this floor were gathered into the room, she felt that more spells to secure the barrier in its entirety could only help their chances of survival. She gave Lorcan’s hand a nervous squeeze before turning to see who all had been fortunate enough to escape their way. She began her survey just as an injured, red-haired boy began to yell.

Lorcan had been doing highly innapropriate things with his beautiful girlfriend when the explosion had happened; and while they were both curious beings who wanted to run in the direction of the commotion, Lorcan was glad that Diana hadn't been up there for whatever had been going on. It also helped that they had already been next to the dungeon doors, able to move the flow of students down into a rather large abandoned classroom when they'd come stampeding down the corridor. Perhaps it was a good thing there was an explosion - if that wasn't the entire cause for all this chaos - at least he and Diana had a warning before being descended upon. Enough time to straighten their clothing and tame their hair. It was when Archie the Caretaker and Penelope Wood came rushing down with Wesley Creevey in tow, and an army of little years following behind that Lorcan realized something was horribly wrong. He immediately moved to the beginning of the hallway where the students were filing in after kissing Diana's cheek. "Make sure they all go down."

He surveyed the crowd, looking for any of his friends, or even Lysander, and was glad to see a few familiar faces. Molly, and Lily were safe, and if either of them had been up there when things happened... well, maybe he wouldn't ask Molly. But, mainly he was here to make sure no one got injured, pushing and pulling students to alter the flow in which they came. Being a prefect for the last two years at Hogwarts had given him quite a bit of practice in this department. Too bad it wasn't as easy on the train. He watched as Professor Corner moved by, entering the room, and Lorcan felt a little more relieved. He was comfortable in his position as a prefect, but it still eased him a little to have someone else take charge of things, and while he obviously trusted Archie as his Caretaker, he wasn't that much older than Lorcan. Not that age had anything to do with it, his Mother and her friends had only been his age and younger when fighting Voldemort, he just felt.. safer. Plus, maybe the Professor knew something.

His eyes strayed to Diana as she spoke soothing words to the children, his heart warming as he swore it grew larger to fit more love for her inside. It may have been a grave situation, but Lorcan couldn't help the way he felt about her. It was completely different than anything he'd ever felt before. Lorcan thought he'd known love from how he loved his friends and family, but there were no words to describe the love he'd felt for Diana. It was like he was incomplete without her, like she was the other half of him that he hadn't known he was missing. It felt nice to be with her, and he could truly say she was his best friend, no one knew him like she did. They were so open and connected now, that sometimes it felt like they could read each others minds. Sure, his other best friends knew him too, but there was more to a relationship than just loving the person for who they were inside, flaws and all.

As the last of the students moved down the corridor, Lorcan checked for anything else, and then chased after them, "I think so! I didn't see anyone or anything else coming down, let's get inside, quick." Lorcan shouted above the voices, clutching Diana's hand in his own softly, bringing his own wand out to help her, knowing that the Professor had done it but if it made Diana feel better, he supposed making the spell stronger would help. "Protego," Lorcan said in beat with Diana until she was finished. He squeezed her hand back and looked up as Wesley shouted out, moving in front of her slightly with his hands out to try and calm him down. "She's a Gryffindor girl, right? Blonde?" Lorcan asked, "Maybe we can help you find her." and get him to the hospital wing. "What happened?"

chaos theory
For all the bravery Penelope Wood liked to think she held in her heart, she turned out to be rather useless when it came to the shocking flurry of activity that surrounded the frantic students. All it took was for Archie to tell her to stay put, and it was as if he possessed an unheard of magic that could force her to obey every order he gave to her. Where she would normally scoff at a request like that and run right into the thick of things, she instead waited for him to return, gasping at the bloodied boy in his arms when he finally did.

Molly. Lily Potter. Professor Corner. Lorcan Scamander. His blond girlfriend and a Slytherin boy she didn’t know. And Archie, of course. Those were the members of the ragtag bunch who surrounded each other, trying to get their stories straight. The walls of the dungeon were lined with frightened-looking younger students, but none of them stepped out of the shadows or spoke up. Penny offered a look of uncertainty for Molly as she held the limp boy’s hand. She wanted to give her encouraging words or even a joke, something that could communicate to her housemate that everything was going to be alright. But, without knowing that to be true, she found the words escaping her. For the first time in her life, she felt truly meek, and she understood why her brothers and parents prevented her from trying to aid the efforts against last year’s attacks. This was beyond her. Beyond her years, beyond her skills, and beyond her scope of comprehension.

The two Ravenclaw prefects directed children while Lily Potter and Professor Corner tried to work their magic over the boy’s lifeless body. All the while, Penny clung to Archie. She snaked her hand into his, finding solace in its roughness and warmth, even through the nervous layer of sweat that also made it slick. The whole time, one single question pestered her. What happened here? Did anyone know? Taking a step closer to Archie, the writhing man tore Penny’s gaze away from the Weasley girl and back to him as he tried to communicate his message. She felt her heart stop.

“Agnes…” Penelope breathed, worry catching the name in her throat for the Gryffindor girl. Penny didn’t know her well, but she knew enough to know she’d been through enough in the last year already. Whatever was causing the injured boy to go mad with a need to find her must mean she was in pretty bad shape the last time he’d seen her. “She’s in the my brother’s year – the one above mine.” A new panic began forming in her mind as she spoke. “Silas – did anyone see Silas? Was he out there? Was he hurt?” It seemed that Penelope had been forced into a room with only people who hadn’t actually seen what happened, with the exception of the redhead who was slurring his words and clearly not able to help them at all. Unable to control her emotions now that they’d been set free, Penny lunged away from Archie and toward the injured boy. “Did you see Silas Wood out there?” She demanded fervently, her hands finding purchase in his shoulders, fear swallowing her from the inside out. “Did you see him?”

nothing can shake me
except the fear of losing you
While the chaos continued and students filed into the classroom Daniel tapped Lily on the shoulder to tell her that he was going to go do some calming of the other students. It was only moments after that he heard the guy scream... a small relief overcoming him knowing he was safe, though, with Lily's care it wasn't that surprising. She was the brightest witch he knew and the bravest. It was also possible he was a little biased.

Walking around the room he checked on a few students who were still panicked. Letting them know they were all safe he moved on to the next. It was his duty after all. As he made his way around he came across he heard a yell coming from a young girl who was directing her voice toward Wesley. Quickly he closed the distance between them. Placing a gentle hand on the girls shoulder he slightly recognized her. She was the Wood girl and it made sense now why she was asking Wesley if he had seen her brother.

"Penelope, right?" he asked the girl. On Daniel's way into the classroom he had indeed passed the Wood boy - who was frantically searching for Lucy Weasley, from what he had heard, was the girl who set off the explosion to stop the vampire from feeding on Wesley. Brave but stupid to put herself in the middle of it. "He went looking for Lucy after the explosion, I saw him on my way here," he explained trying to calm the young girl down and give Wesley a chance to breathe and recover from the blood loss.

If it wasn't for Lily Daniel would have been very lost on who was looking for who and why... however, Lily loved her family and they often talked about the goings on in Hogwarts. Lucy was one of the pranksters in the school, who had on several occasions gotten Daniel in her pranks - making the Weasley girl a topic of conversation between the couple. If he wasn't mistaken Lucy and Silas were quite the match. "It would be best for you to wait the chaos out Miss Wood, I understand you want to find your brother but right now we need you to stay safe in here." It wasn't necessarily a command but being the Head of Gryffindor, he hoped this girl had a little respect for him and agree to stay put.

Relief washed over Lily when Daniel appeared next to her. She didn't realize until that moment how tense she was when she had no idea where he was. The worry that he could still be in the Great Hall with the chaos brewing was something she couldn't even process. Lily didn't know what she would do if Daniel was hurt in an altercation or worse. She wouldn't be able to deal. He's breathing...I think he will be just fine. Nodding her head, the redhead tried to maintain concentration on the slytherin boy on the ground in front of her, noting his skin knitting itself back together. The blood was slowly clotting and the flow was ending.

When all was complete, Lily put her wand back in place in the folds of her dress and closed her eyes as she knelt above the boy who was beginning to stir. Turning her head to her cousin, Lily put on a grim face. She was still unsure what was happening but she had an idea who was behind it. I don't know, Molly. It's bad though. Her mouth was set in a hard line as a familiar hand was placed on her shoulder, her own shooting up to land on top of it. His whisper in her ear causing a small smile to come across her face. She didn't answer but squeezed his hand before he walked away again and she turned her attention back to Molly and her question. I'm okay, just rattled. The question is, are you? Where were you when this went down? You weren't in the Great Hall, were you? Her busy questions probing at her, trying to direct her curious look about the professor.

Lily's eyes widened and she bounced back on her feet as the Creevey boy got up in a frenzy. Her hands reaching out to calm him but missing. The rest of the room seemed to go in a tizzy as a few other students started freaking out about a couple missing students. Hurrying, Lily went and stood in front of the door to block the way. She knew that Daniel had things under control but she blocked the way anyways as a last resort. Everyone is going to be okay. We just have to wait here. I'm sure Agnes and Lucy are being taken care of, where ever they are.

Daddy cool.
Archibald was giving his all in that moment. Trying his damndest to help this poor boy as he had laid there… bleeding. Yes, Archie wasn’t much of a fan when it had come to blood thanks to his many accidents with rugby, but he wasn’t a stranger to it either. Trying his best to stop the bleeding, Archie was greeted by a couple more faces. Faces that could definitely help him along in this situation. ”I’m sorry, Lily.” he sighed, running his hand across his forehead, blood streaking small lines that were not noticeable to him. ”Alright.” He inhaled deeply, still keeping both of his hands around the boys neck as he watched him closely. Lily Potter quickly muttering the spell as he removed his hands before they had become and issue as well.

Archie couldn’t use the magic others could. Did it bother him? Most definitely. In times like this it had. What good was he? Standing around like an idiot trying to attempt his ’muggle like powers’ of holding a shirt to the kids neck. Hell, at least he was trying. Looking over his shoulder at the petite little redhead, Archibald smiled. He was thankful for her existence at this point. But in the mix of his little brain fog, that smile had been interrupted by Professor McBuff, sexy pants. Immediately he had taken over in healing the kid, which Archie was grateful for. But there wasn’t a moment where he hadn’t found himself out shined by another. Another with a great bod and wonderful hair. Or, and magic. Can’t forget the magic.

Perking a brow at the small bits of mutter between Daniel and Lily, Archibald inhaled deeply. What was this? Though saying nothing, Archie moved to the other side to take a knee next to the boy- giving Daniel and Lily a bit of space. But apparently Archibald just wasn’t meant to take a seat next to the boy for he was being nudged again by another Weasley. What was with all these red heads?! ”The newly turned vampire decided to sink his teeth into the kid.” he sighed. ”But, surely he will be okay.” Hopeful glances shifted between the small surrounding group as he shifted to Penelope for a brief moment. Her panic overtaking as she had worried about her brother. Silas… where was the little shit anyway? And Alaric! FUCK! Where was Alaric?! Yet before he could make any movement to climb to his feet, the boy beneath his sprung in a panic.

”FUCK!”

Archibald roared as he had been sent back a few inches or so. His heart racing out of control. ”Wesley, Damn it!” he breathed, his chest feeling as if it was bound to collapse. Agnes. Where was that girl? What happened? ”As soon as we know it is clear out there, Wes, we will get to the Hospital Wing.” He spoke genuinely. ”Someone could have carried her there.” Merlin he hoped so. He could see the overwhelming emotions flooding the boys face as he had worried for his girlfriend… or friend? Hell, Archie didn’t know. But he could sense the feelings and all he could hope for was her safety at this point. Reaching out to grab Penelope, Archibald pulled her to him. An attempt to calm her as well. Anything to keep everyone on a certain level at least until they were able to get out of there. ”You hear that, Wood?” Archie smiled, lowering his voice as he forced her to look at him. ”Your brother is fine. He is safe.”

Wrapping his arms around her, he pulled Penelope into him as he ran a swift hand up and down the center of her back. Sure this looked a little terrible on his end, but he was only trying to keep her calm. ”you hear the Professor. And we can’t leave.” Archie cleared his throat. ”No one can leave this room right now until we know it is clear of harm.” His eyes shifted to the Professors. ”If you need, I can go look in about fifteen just to be sure? So then you can stay here with the students being as they need you more than this silly ol’ caretaker.” He chuckled a bit. His attempt to clear his mind and ease his own worry wasn’t working all too well. But he had to do something. Professor Corner was important to these students. Honestly, what would they miss about him? The fact that he had kept these halls clean and their shit stalls in order and the furnaces running? Plus… Alaric. His kid brother was out there too and that would give him the chance to search.

sorrow found me when i was young
Her mind was running at a million miles per minute with questions about what had taken place in the Great Hall. Too much had happened to Hogwarts and those on the outside already. Did the universe feel like more turmoil had to spread before the better came along? Molly always had a gut instinct that they were no where near being through with all the trouble the Elites caused. But, was this even an act by them?

More students piled in as Molly waited for her answers, her head tilting back just enough to see who entered the protection spell. Person upon person that Molly didn't know scrambled in until... two people she knew very well entered with them. Lorcan and Diana. Her stomach dropped, the usual feeling of pain flooding her chest as her eyes scanned the boy she was still desperately trying to let go of. And that blonde girl. The girl that was able to catch his heart so easily when Molly tried for years and it wasn't enough. She was slipping, the pain becoming overwhelming. But she was pulled back just in time by the jerking of her hand.

Head snapping back in the direction of Wesley, Molly roughly pulled her hand back when he started yelling like a maniac. Agnes? Molly knew the girl, but wasn't close to her. Apparently the Creevey boy was though by the way he was acting. And one by one the panic started. First it was Wesley, then Penelope and then... her. Lucy's name slipped from the Professor's lips and it hit her that Lucy was in that hall. Lucy had been in danger and Molly wasn't there to help her or protect her. At first Molly stood there in shock, eyes staring blankly at the scene before her like she was just overseeing everyone's reactions, but that was not the case at all. The panic was setting in, her mind running with every possible scenario, even the worst. What if Lucy was dead and she wasn't there with her? What if she was alone?

Without a word, Molly started toward the door, pushing past those that were in her way. She was fully prepared to jump into action too, but the redhead soon came face to face with her cousin. Dark and determined eyes looked into Lily's, the girl's body blocking her from leaving. "Lily, move." She demanded, staring her down as her hand hovered at her side, threatening to go for her wand. "I need to get to Lucy. I need to help her." She told the girl, eyes glancing between Lily and the stretch of castle behind her. Molly was trying her best not to break in that moment, trying to keep as calm as she possibly could knowing that her sister was in danger. From what Archie had said, there was a new vampire ripping into people. Did he do the same to Lucy? "Come on Lily, what if it was Albus or James?" She pleaded. Molly was starting to get antsy. She needed out.

chaos theory
In hindsight, Penelope knew that she shouldn’t have reacted quite so zealously. It was a teensy bit psychotic of her to grab at the Creevey boy when it clearly wasn’t his fault, whatever had happened. He was hurt and as confused – if not more so – by the whirlwind of frightened students and running children as everyone else. Penny knew as her nails dug into the poor Slytherin boys shoulder blades that her efforts were in vain and pointlessly harming someone innocent, but it wasn’t until Professor Corner gently coaxed her into moving away from his bedside that she truly regained her thoughtfulness and her composure.

“Y-yes,” Penny stuttered, trying to bring the professor’s face back into focus as he kindly asked her name. “Right,” she mumbled, scarcely acknowledging the professor’s words. He’d gone into the explosion. He’d gone looking for Lucy, the best friend Penny had loved like the sister she always wanted growing up. He was a good man, even if he was a stupid, life-risking one sometimes. She couldn’t find Silas right now. She could only hope he’d found some safety somewhere. Biting her lip, she tried to steady her breathing again, biting back the anxiety that was welling in the pit of her stomach and threatening to wrap itself around her heart, squeezing until she thought her chest would implode from the pressure of it all.

Embarrassed by her actions and giving into the familiar touch against her body, Penelope’s blue eyes dropped away from the red-haired boy and trained themselves to the floor as she follow Archie’s lead. She let herself enjoy the way his arms enveloped her, calming her from the outside inward, but she found it difficult to fully let herself be comforted for a few reasons. The first being the fact that she was far too excited by the way his touch affected her. Penny’s entire body seemed to come alive, nearly humming with energy in response to the way he held her. Why hadn’t she felt this way with her boyfriend? Was she doing something wrong? Was he? Was this how things were supposed to feel? They’d never touched like this before, and Penny so badly wanted to lean further into him.

But, no. This wasn’t the time for that. Instead of letting herself fall against his strong frame more, she pushed away from him, moving to stand her ground in front of him instead. And that led into her second distraction from Archie’s comfort: he told her she couldn’t leave. If there was one thing Penelope Wood had an aversion to, it was rules. As soon as the words left Archibald Finnigan’s mouth, all she could think about was how badly she wanted to leave. She needed to get out of that dungeon, and she needed to find Silas. And she would be damned if she let some professor with fancy hair tell her to stay put. “Stay here?” She repeated, mischief and defiance painting her features. “I don’t think so, Mr. Caretaker,” she paused, lowering her voice. “If my brother is still out there, I’m going to go find him. I would love to see you try to go without me.” Penny had to stop herself from flinching at his commentary regarding how useful he was to their group.

While Archie might have felt that he wasn’t as helpful as those of them with magic, Penelope knew that wasn’t the case. She also knew he was always more than a little bit sensitive about his lack of magic, especially when surrounded by so many other people who were “helping” the cause. “Do you honestly think I know any healing spells that could help in a situation like this? Because I’m all out of tricks in that department.” Glancing around the room, she thought of a few more reasons why her presence was just as unnecessary as he claimed his was in the dungeons. “Plus, how many prefects are down here right now? Two? Three? And a professor? I think that’s plenty to handle this group. You’re the one who will really need my help in this scenario.” To emphasize her point, she twirled her wand in between her index and middle fingers, nearly dropping it. “Whad’ya say? Teammates?”

chaos theory
If Diana had been at the school for longer than what was roughly six months, maybe she would have known the names that were getting tossed around as she watched helplessly, her head turning with each person who spoke as if she were watching a tennis match. She watched, not unfearfully, as person after person seemed to snap. Her grip on Lorcan’s hand grew stronger with each cry or yell or whimper, and she wished she knew even a little bit of the terror and anxiety they were feeling. She really wished she had even the slightest idea about what happened. Why was I with Lorcan when I should have been there? she wondered.

Di wanted to reach out to the younger Wood girl, but the caretaker seemed to have her…well, taken care of. She wanted to put an arm around Wesley, but he was also well contained by Lily and the professor in the room, who seemed to be finding solace in each other. That left only one person in the room who wasn’t being cared for. Diana squeezed Lorcan’s hand once more for good measure upon this realization before she relieved herself of his touch and wandered over to the red-haired girl who was beginning to have her first meltdown of the bunch. Molly Weasley.

Running to block the door beside Lily, Diana put both her hands up where Molly could see them as if that would make her appear less threatening. If she even appeared threatening at all, Di couldn’t really tell. As far as she was concerned, the Weasley with her striking hair and air of extreme confidence was infinitely more intimidating than she could ever dream of being. “Molly,” she said gently. “I know you’re upset right now, but it’s going to be okay. It isn’t safe to go out there right now, and you know it. You’re just going to have to stay here for a little bit.”

Briefly, Diana’s blue-eyed gaze flicked to where Molly’s hands twitched by her wand, but she tried to put her suspicions out of her mind. As much as she was wary of the Gryffindor girl, Di knew she couldn’t exactly take her own wand out as a warning for Molly not to get any crazy ideas. So, instead, she tried to appeal to her more delicate side. After all, Di was sensitive to the thought of losing a sibling. She’d lost both of hers and her parents less than a year ago.

“We’re all worried about someone right now, hun,” she said, trying to make her voice as kind as possible once again, “but Professor Corner just said that Silas was with her.” Maybe Di didn’t know the names of every student, but at least she knew enough to know who Silas Wood and Lucy Weasley were to each other. “That means she’s safe, right? He’ll take care of her, make sure nothing happens to her, protect her with his life.” Diana’s eyes flickered momentarily to where Lorcan stood across the room from her. Trust me, I know the feeling.
